If you are planning to start your higher education or study at a post-secondary school in Poland, we have important information for you. New regulations have recently come into force that regulate the rules for accepting foreigners for these forms of education. These changes are intended to improve the visa system and ensure that people coming to Poland for educational purposes have the appropriate language qualifications.
What does this mean for you?
The most important change is the introduction of a mandatory Polish language certificate for applicants to higher education and post-secondary schools.
- Post-secondary schools: From March 2025, it will no longer be possible to start studying at a post-secondary school without documenting knowledge of the Polish language at level B1.
- Higher education: According to new regulations that will come into force on October 1, 2026, applicants for higher education will be required to have a Polish language certificate at level B2.
What documents are required now?
To apply to college or post-secondary school, you will need:
- A valid travel document (passport).
- A visa or other document entitling you to stay in Poland (if applicable).
- A secondary school certificate (in the case of higher education) or another document confirming your education.
